Here’s a tip: Try not to lose $30 million worth of ratepayer money

My prayers go with the people of Chattanooga.
According to a Wall Street Journal article posted on The Tennessean’s web site today, Chattanooga’s city-owned electric company is planning to offer television, high-speed Internet and telephone service to about 170,000 customers.
Perhaps it’s not a completely hopeless enterprise, though.
If Chattanooga officials carefully studied what happened when Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division tried to launch a similar business venture called Memphis Networx, the folks in East Tennessee should have plenty of ideas about what not to do.
