Hard Hearted

By Blake Fontenay

“Oooooh no, Barracuda!”It looks like Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin can add the rock group Heart to her enemies list, along with the media and the Washington establishment.

It seems Ann and Nancy Wilson, the two sisters who make up Heart, were not too thrilled when their song "Barracuda" was played as Palin took to the stage at the Republican National Convention this week.

In a statement, the sisters said Palin, who was nicknamed "Sarah Barracuda" during her years as a high school basketball player, doesn’t represent their values and views as American women.

The sisters said that they wrote that song as a rant against the corporate, soulless nature of the music business, particularly as it applies to women.

For that reason, they said, playing the song at the RNC was ironic.

Oh well. I hear the Jefferson Starship tune "Sarah" might still be available.
