Most Heavenly Hot Dog
Winner: Jimmy’s Chicago Style Pizza, Dogs & Beef
How does a little hot dog shop in Bartlett walk away as the top dog with our readers? It’s all in the beef, says Jimmy O’Connor, owner of Jimmy’s Chicago at 6773 Stage Road.
“Vienna beef,” says O’Connor. “I do not carry anything else; I refuse to.” The former truck driver and Chicagoan opened his eatery four years ago, “because nobody down here knows what a hot dog is.”
In Chicago terms, that means yellow mustard, dark green relish, a kosher pickle spear, sport peppers, freshly chopped raw onions, tomato slices, celery salt and a poppy seed bun.
