Most Delicious Deli
Winner: Bogie’s Delicatessen
Boar’s Head may be a more common name in the deli business these days, but Bogie’s was the first deli in town to carry the brand of high-quality meats and cheeses that have been a favorite of East Coasters for years. Original owners Beth and Robert Renfro “had it flown in on a charter plane because there was no distributorship at the time,” says Jo Lynn Greer, the current owner, along with other members of her family. “We take pride in making everything homemade — all types of salads and cakes, lemon squares and brownies.” Her personal favorite? The smoked turkey Reuben.
Five Bogie’s in the Memphis area, including Midtown, Downtown, Collierville, Cordova and the original location on Mendenhall in East Memphis.
Finalists: Lenny’s Sub Shop, McAlister’s Deli
