Winner: Abyssinia Ethiopian
Based on the three finalists in this category, our readers have a wide definition of “exotic.” But Abyssinia Ethiopian was the top vote-getter in our poll; the restaurant specializes in authentic Ethiopian cuisine, says owner Yilma Aklilu. “There’s tasty food at the lunch buffet, that would be a good start” for those new to Ethiopian fare, says Aklilu. Spiced chicken, salmon goulash and low-fat vegetarian, beef and lamb dishes are all served traditionally, meaning everything is eaten with the hands, scooped up with injera, a pancake-like bread.
