Most Spectacular Sunset View
Winner: Tom Lee Park
The sunset over the Mississippi is celebrated every May with Sunset Symphony, the closing event of Memphis in May. But any time of the year is the perfect time for the breathtaking view of a sunset from Tom Lee Park.
As the barges roll by on the rippling water and the rumbling of trains sound from the old railroad bridge spanning Old Man River, the park is the best vista in the city to take in the view of the day’s last light.
Whether you favor a romantic picnic for two, a romp across the grass with Rover, an evening stroll or just a stopover after work for a few minutes of quiet contemplation before the long drive home, it can’t be beat.
As the sun turns from golden to deep pink and begins to drop over Arkansas and the clouds take on the colorful hues, it will take your breath away. The twinkling lights of the Interstate 40 bridge and the glittering Memphis skyline behind you are just a bonus to the sights and sounds.
It doesn’t get more Memphis than this.
