Winner: W. S. “Babe” Howard

W.S. “Babe” Howard’s philanthropic heritage is legendary in the community, from the baseball field that bears his name to the environmental causes he champions. It’s little wonder that he’s a generous man; his parents, who started the Millington Telephone Company in 1928 and which he runs today, refused to cut off service to the many area residents who couldn’t pay their bills during the Depression.
