The Club Formerly Known as Antenna

The venue at Madison and Avalon that used to house the legendary Antenna club is in for more changes, as the owner of Murphy’s seems to have acquired joint ownership of the space, now called Nocturnal. That club struggled to gain momentum after opening as a gay-oriented spot with drag show; more recently its programming has stressed electronic dance music presented by resident DJ Mary Jane and guests.

The emphasis on deejays will continue, with higher-profile talent bookings along the lines of the April 12 appearance by Chicago house veteran Boo Williams. The club also will begin to feature live music acts.

let’s hope Boo brings a welcome change from the mind-numbing techno i experienced on my one trip to Nocturnal. four-on-the-floor drives me crazy.
